Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know whether my roof needs a repair or a full replacement?

Three things decide it: age, leak history and shingle condition. A fundamentally sound roof with one local failure, like a pipe boot or a lifted slope, is a repair. Granule loss across every slope, soft or spongy decking, and repairs that keep coming back year after year mean the roof is done and repair money is being wasted. Our Repair or Replace finder on the homepage gives the same verdict framework we use in person, and an inspection settles it with photos.

What does a roof repair usually cost in Tomball?

Honest answer: it depends on the roof, which is why we publish ranges instead of teaser prices. Minor leak repairs commonly run in the low hundreds; involved flashing and slope work runs higher; the roof repair cost guide prints the planning ranges for the common jobs, with the disclaimer that only an inspection turns a range into your number.

A storm just damaged my roof. What do I do first?

Stay safe, photograph everything from the ground, and call us. We tarp active openings first so the interior survives the week, then document the damage while it is fresh for your insurance claim. Do not sign a contract with anyone knocking doors in the first 48 hours, and never agree to an arrangement where a roofer covers your deductible. The storm damage page and the insurance claims guide walk through the order of operations.

Will insurance pay for my roof?

Insurance pays for sudden storm damage, not for old age. If wind or hail damaged your roof, a claim is usually worth filing, and documentation decides how it goes. Texas policies often carry a separate wind and hail deductible set as a percentage of the home's insured value, and many pay ACV (depreciated value) first with the rest released after the work is done. We document, write the scope and meet your adjuster. We do not promise outcomes, because nobody honest can.

How long does a roof replacement take?

Most single-family replacements in our area finish in one to two days of on-roof work once materials are on site, weather permitting. The full process, from inspection and written scope to the finished walk-through and paperwork, usually spans one to two weeks. Your scope will say what applies to your roof before we start.

Are metal roofs worth it in this climate?

For the right house, yes. Standing seam metal handles Gulf wind well, shrugs off the cosmetic denting hail leaves on it, and lasts roughly twice as long as shingles here. It also costs roughly twice as much per square. The shingle vs metal comparison runs the honest math for northwest Harris County conditions, including heat, maintenance and HOA rules.

Do you serve Cypress and Spring, or only Tomball?

All three. Tomball is home ground, and Cypress and Spring each have their own page covering their housing stock and failure patterns. Same crew, same documented process in all three.

What happens during a roof inspection?

We get on the roof and in the attic where access allows, photograph the whole surface, check the details that fail first (flashings, boots, valleys, vents), and look for storm damage and soft decking. You get the photos, a condition read and a written scope if work is needed. The findings are yours whether or not we do the work.

Can you match my existing shingles on a repair?

We source the closest available match and show you a sample before the work starts. On older roofs a perfect match is not always possible because of weathering; when that is the case we tell you before, not after, and place the repair where the blend reads best.

Do you install gutters too?

Yes. Gutter installation is part of the service list because in a Piney Woods downpour, water management does not end at the roof edge. Failed gutters rot fascia and soffit and undermine foundations; we size and hang them as part of the same documented job.
